We have scheduled an overnight trip to Asheville on Sept 13th and 14th . We will stay at a Hampton Inn at Biltmore Square close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The number is 828-667-2022.
There isn’t any special deal but the rates are $119 per night or so. There should be plenty of rooms. There is also a pretty neat restaurant nearby that we can have dinner at. It is called the Stone Ridge Tavern and it has almost any type of food you want. This won’t be a rally but it will be twisty.
The annual Z Club Picnic was held at Cooper's Furnace on Sunday, July 29th.
The Mitty from a Racer’s point of view
Written by Brian Long

The Mitty was a race weekend that started about 30 years ago. I don’t know if there was a book first, but a movie “The secret life of Walter Mitty” starring Danny Kaye was about an ordinary guy dreaming of doing extraordinary things. One of the things he dreamed about was being a championship race car driver. The idea of the Mitty was to give ordinary people with old SCCA type race cars a chance to do some gentleman racing. No bump drafting, no “rubbin’ is racin’, no dive into the corner, no win at any cost. Just take your old race car out and enjoy the drive.
I remember going to one of the early ones. A lot of small bores (Bug Eyes, Triumphs, Healeys, Alfas, Super Vees, and an occasional real open wheel race car. The Mitty grew over the years. A few years ago there were 650 cars in the event. Unfortunately, the original idea has been lost on big teams, big money and ‘historic’ two year old cars....... (read more link below)
Why join our club? A few years ago I stumbled upon the Georgia Z Club website. I wasn't very active in the "Z scene" but was looking to fix up my 1992 N/A. I noticed that with my paid membership, I received discounts at local parts dealers that would pay for my membership many times over within the first year. I joined solely for that reason. Shortly after joining... and a few mods later of course, I went to a local Z show where I met one of the GZC members, Larry Fordyce, who drove a 1991 Red Twin Turbo Z32. After seeing that car, I was hooked! He invited me to one of the club's monthly meetings and I quickly realized that there were other people with similar interests and that this club could offer much more than discounts. After that, I went on a mad spending spree of purchasing a 1992 Twin Turbo, adding a few mods, and showing it at every local Z show I could. During one of the monthly meetings, I opened my big mouth to complain about the old website and was quickly tasked with writing a new site which is what you see today. To sum it all up, within 2 years, I went from a "membership to score discounted parts" to the designer of this website and very active member of the Z community. To top that off... I don't even own a Z anymore! I drive an '03 G35 which is a modern 2+2 in my opinion!
It's well worth the $25 per year no matter how you use your membership. The friends you gain from being an active member are, of course, priceless! If you wish to become a member of GZC, click here for more info!

Z Nationals 2008 Coverage
Written by Brian Long
Saturday, 29 March 2008
This was the largest Z Nationals yet! The parking lot was packed! Nissan brought in a 2009 Skyline GT-R from Tennessee for the event. We were able to round up about 20 cars for the caravan to Z1.
Thanks again to Z1 for hosting this wonderful event, Gwinnett Nissan for proving lunch, and all of the other sponsors for some great giveaways!
