The May meeting opened acknowledging & welcoming visitors and new members: Sandi Holcomb (husband John unable to attend) who has a 2003 350Z red Enthusiast edition and Elliott Rosenberg with his ’04 350Z red Touring edition (his 50th birthday present).

Robert sold raffle tickets for the 50-50 which would also include a set of tickets for the Mitty. Again, we included a ticket for our server, Elaine, to have an opportunity to win..... (more)

We are planning a picnic at Cooper’s Furnace, which is near Cartersville, on June 29th. Ed Gollob is arranging it. We can meet at the same place, Canton Micky D’s to caravan over there. It is Corps of Engineers property, so we have to behave and no alcoholic beverages are permitted. The Club will provide catering from Williamson Brothers Barbeque.  Robert will send out an email asking for a yes/no answer for those planning to attend, in order to get a head count for food. Williamson Brothers will also be catering food to the Mitty, same as last year.

Robert talked to Paul at Gwinnett Place Nissan about another show/shine like we did last year. They are still up for it; a date will be confirmed soon.

Another rally is in the works for later this year, so plan to attend. By popular demand, it will be an overnight trip. The original plan was to go up the Blue Ridge Parkway, but a section of the Parkway has failed and is being reconstructed, so Robert, the Rally Master, will work out an alternate route and provide more details as we get closer. This will be sometime in the Fall.

Brian Long has been talking to Nissan Sports Magazine. They have space available for us to advertise our club. In return for our participation, we will be offered half price subscriptions. It publishes quarterly.

Henry had a schedule for the Mitty; Z cars are in Group 3. Henry will be racing, along with Mike Cammarata and 3 others. Henry is #161, big red trailer, please come out and cheer him on. There will be 20 Mustangs and about 50 Porsches. We will all be pulling for Henry to do well.

On Saturday, they will be qualifying at 9:00am, for best lap time with a mandatory 5 minute pit. The race will go for one hour and be over. Every imaginable kind of car will be there. Henry will be to the left of The Chalet. The Pro pits are below them and on the other side, so you can come in and see any of the cars. The guys are always happy to talk about their cars. Our location has changed and we aren’t sure exactly where we will have our tent, but it will be close to our old location. For more information, you can go to hsrrace.com or roadatlanta.com which has a link.

Our VP, Doug Crouse was absent, rumor had it that he had defected to the TN Z Club…

A side note about the GTR which recently kicked butt by beating out a turbo Corvette and a Porsche, by 5 seconds per lap!

Our raffle prizes included 350Z posters provided by Mel Pittman and Yokahama (the original Z car tires) hats, compliments of Chet Plewacki.

The 50-50 drawing was won by Brian Long in the amount of $43.50

Fredy Hand won the Mitty ticket, but gave them to our secretary, Sheila Fox, since he was not planning to attend. Thanks again, Fredy!

Posters were won by: Martin Buttermore and our visitor, Sandi Holcomb

Hats were won by: Mike Lewis and David Rigsby

Meeting adjourned to take advantage of the nice weather and look at cars.
